This simple strap is a safe, unobtrusive way to identify horses in a herd or, with O-rings slipped onto the collar, provide an alternative to cross tying using a halter- leaving the face free for grooming or bridling.

Many large farms use leather horse collars to identify broodmares with an added brass name plate (our brass nameplates are attached with chicago screw, and thus removable and movable to different collars or halters). ID collars are particularly useful at stables where handlers may not recognize each horse by sight- an identification collar helps prevent potentially dangerous mix ups! Engraved plates are sold separately.

Leather horse collars are much safer for turnout than halters because the collar sits on a less sensitive part of the horse's body and an area less likely to be caught on objects. In an emergency, this Amish made strap will break away. Havana brown only. The prepunched holes allow the collar to adjust from 30.5 to 35.5 (fitting the majority of horses, cob to warmblood sized) but holes can be added to accommodate up to a 38" neck.

Other boarders were using breakaway collars from another website which are expensive and hard to fix if they got broke. I came across "LuckyPonyTack" and found these great leather collars that she could w... More details

Review Text: I got this to replace a driving halter that I used to use to cross tie my horse while he was harnessed up. This works out great because it gives me much easier access to his face while putting on the bridle, and also because instead of fiddling with the nose buckle on the halter, I can just leave this on him and it doesn't interfere with his harness at all while we're driving. Once the drive is over, he's all set to be hitched up again in the cross ties to take his harness off! My horse is a lar... More details
